REDX WeSchool MLCC Study Jam

Hello! Let’s come together and delve deeper into the world of Machine learning (ML)!

REDX WeSchool is excited to bring Google’s Machine Learning Crash Course (MLCC) Study Jam to you.

About MLCC

Google in collaboration with NITI Aayog is focussed on bringing Artificial Intelligence related content to India, to train the Indian community and help them stay ahead of the curve in the technology world. MLCC provides exercises, interactive visualizations, and instructional videos that anyone can use to learn and practice ML concepts.

History of MLCC

MLCC is Google’s flagship machine learning course, initially created for Google engineers. This course was taken up by more than 18,000 Googlers, and was recently made publicly available.

About Study Jams

Study Jams are a series of community run, in-person study groups. It is a course to help take people from minimal or no Machine Learning (ML) knowledge to a point where they can train linear models or neural network models in TensorFlow. We aim to give them enough knowledge to understand various pitfalls, classic errors, and trade-offs.

Why Study Jam? Need of the hour

ML being a niche topic with limited reachability, this event serves as a platform for the young community in Mumbai to committedly work to advance their skills in AI. Our vision is to constantly co-create and iterate on improving the learning experience of AI for all together!

Join AI researchers, engineers, data scientists and self-learners going through the lecture materials of Google MLCC group covering practical machine learning concepts and assignments. This course is intended for those who wish to learn about ML from a practical, applied perspective that will enable them to use machine learning within their everyday projects.

The value of coming together as a study group lies in clarifying doubts, discussions the material, and accountability on course completion – these will be met through the way the study group activities are structured. We aim at building a community around AI in Mumbai.

What does the course cover?

The complete syllabus can be found here!
MLCC covers numerous machine learning fundamentals, from basic concepts such as loss function and gradient descent, then building through more advanced theories like classification models and neural networks. The programming exercises include the basics of TensorFlow — Google’s open-source machine learning framework — and also feature succinct videos from Google machine learning experts. Participants will be able to read short text lessons, and play with educational gadgets devised by Google’s instructional designers and engineers.

Schedule

We will be embarking this journey of 4 weeks on every Saturdays from 18th August 2018 to 8th Sept 2018. Along with the course, we will also implement assignments and get hands-on experience of working on ML projects.

  • Pen & paper (or any other preferable option if you plan to take notes)
  • Valid proof of identity (college ID/ workplace ID/ any government ID proof)
  • A can-do attitude!
What do Participants get?
  • Google Shwags will be awarded to top performers during the four sessions
  • Platform for networking with peers, professionals, students and experts from Mumbai
  • Knowledge of ML and Tensorflow from Google’s flagship course for ML
